Feldspar Achieves Key Milestone in Next-Generation Sports Flooring Development

Feldspar is proud to share a significant milestone in the development of its next-generation , sensor-enabled sports flooring surface. Following rigorous third-party testing by SportsLab—an independent, UK-based sports technology testing and research organisation accredited to conduct testing in accordance with World Athletics performance standards —our latest prototype track surfaces have demonstrated compliance with these standards.
This achievement marks an important step forward as we work toward full World Athletics certification for a globally recognised athletic running track system.
To validate performance and safety, Feldspar submitted several prototype surfaces for both laboratory and field testing. SportsLab, accredited to certify sports surfaces and technologies to national and international standards, conducted a comprehensive assessment including friction, thickness, vertical deformation, and shock-absorption tests. The results confirm that our prototypes successfully meet critical requirements set by World Athletics.
Passing these tests is a strong endorsement of our engineering and design direction, reinforcing that we are firmly on the right track in creating a high-performance, next-generation running surface.
As we look ahead, the next phase involves developing production-ready modules. As soon as they are complete, we will submit them to World Athletics for full certification. With prototype validation now secured, our engineering and design teams are accelerating development to bring this new standard of sports flooring to market
And we couldn’t be more excited about what lies ahead for sport. In addition to meeting World Athletics requirements, our prototype system has already attracted significant interest from high-performance centres and industry partners, with features including:
- Engineered energy optimisation enabled by a higher frequency response and a linear force–stiffness relationship, delivering greater speed, improved efficiency, and reduced fatigue.
- Customisable stiffness tuned for elite performance, training, rehabilitation, or different athlete groups.
- High temperature stability, ensuring consistent performance across diverse climates and demanding environments.
- Fully modular, clipped (not glued) design for faster installation, lower lifecycle cost, and easy maintenance.
- Portable configuration, enabling rapid deployment for temporary competition venues or major events.
- Sensor-enabled architecture, allowing integration with Feldspar’s force-measurement technology.
- These features create a fundamentally new category of athletic performance surface—one that combines material science, sports engineering, and real-time data analytics.
Feldspar remains committed to innovation, performance, and global standards—and this milestone brings us one step closer to delivering a certified, world-class track for athletes everywhere.
